CITA's Compu-Fest earns Rs 1.75 cr biz

For the fifth time, Coimbatore Information Tech­no­logy Association (CITA) conducted a three-day IT expo, Compu-Fest 2009, from July 31 to August 2. The event was inaugurated by Anshul Mishra, Comm­i­s­sioner of Corporation, Coimbatore, and Shree Gopal Maheshwary, President, Friends of Tribal Society.

The event saw a footfall of about 30,000 visitors from Hosur, Tirupur, Udumalaipet, Tarapuram, and Krishnagiri, and generated business worth about Rs 1.75 crore, according to Rajinikanth, President, CITA. Wi-Fi service was provided in the expo hall by ISP solutions.

Senthil, Treasurer, CITA, who is praised by every member of the association for his immense effort in making this event a success said, “It was a quality crowd that visited the stall. We initially planned 80 stalls and later increased it by five due to demand.”

Mahesh, VP, CITA said, “LG's TV-cum-PC monitor was the highlight of the show, more than 17 pieces of which were sold. This aside, all the stalls closed many orders and generated a lot of inquiries.”

S Karthikeyan, CEO, Bloom Electronics said, “All the buyers of Dell laptops, which were uniformly priced across all the stalls in the expo, won a two-wheeler through lucky draw.”

A Andrews, who bought Dell Studio 14 laptop from Systech won the TVS sport bike. He shared, “I am very excited in winning the prize. The expo was very informative and was very well organized.”

Kumar, CEO, Systech noted, “We deal with brands such as Dell, Compaq, HP, and assem­bled PCs. We sold more than 70 pieces. The event was well-organized and the response was very good.”

Natarajan, sub-distributor for HP, who has an exclusive showroom at Coimbatore said, “We had about 75 bookings and we sold more than 30 laptops on the spot.”

Krishnakumar, CEO, Acme Communications, who deals with HCL said, “It was a quality crowd. We sold more than 50 pieces and are busy following inquiries.”

Arun, who owns a HP showroom, Shree Info, at Coimbatore said, “In this year, we had more bookings in the expo than last year. We had a special price for the expo which would continue for a week. We have lot of walk-ins to buy the product at the special prize. We sold 50 HP laptops and 10 Sony laptops.”

Another participant, Sanjay, CEO, Kondaas Automation, which is mainly into UPS, said he did business worth about Rs 1,50,000.

Prabhu, CEO, Indsys Infotech Services said, “The response was excellent. We did business worth Rs 20 lakh. We had a separate stall to make online booking for Dell. Together, we sold more than 50 laptops.”

Arangasamy and Karthik, partners of Universys said, “We got a lot of B2B inquiries. That's what we were looking for.” Both of them lauded CITA office bearers for organizing the event in an professional manner.

Gopalakrishnan, one of the partners of Emerald Infosys mentioned, “We launched multi-lingual DMS software CABiNET, which received excellent response from corporates, auditors, media houses and education segments. We sold more than 100 pieces and generated lot of inquiries. In fact, many who visited our stall told us that they were looking for a product like CABiNET.”

Rajinikanth and all other office bearers of CITA, were all praise to Senthil, “It's Senthil to whom the major chunk of the credit must go to for this expo's success. He was the backbone of
this event,” Rajinikanth added.
