VAIT expo registers Rs 30 lakh biz

For the fifth time, Vellore IT Dealers Association (VAIT) conducted a three-day expo recently at Vellore. HCL was the main sponsor for the event and Canon, K7 Computing and Samsung were the co-sponsors. The event was inaugurated by Vellore District Collector, C Rajendran, IAS.

With a footfall of 9,000, the expo recorded spot sales worth Rs 30 lakh. “The expo witnessed a huge crowd this time. People visited with a purpose,” CP Praveen, President, VAIT, pointed out. The event saw visitors from places covering 80 km radius including Gudiya­ttham and Ambur, Ranipeetai.

Prabhakar and Senthil, Managers, Vasavi Compu­ters, which is owned by VAIT President, said, “Surprisingly, desktop sales were higher than the laptop sales during this expo. We also have lot of potential queries.” Devakumar, Proprietor, Mazziah, a partner of Tally, is happy about getting 20 potential inquiries, which includes five customi­zation orders. “I need to follow up and close the deals. Thanks to the expo, our company's reputation has now spread to Coimbatore as well,” he rejoiced.

Another participant, Dayanidhi, CEO, Scott Systems, sold about 25 laptops/desktops and generated more than 15 positive leads. Scott Systems had taken two stalls in the expo and tied up with Sriram Finance to offer various finance schemes for the visitors.

Saravanan , Treasurer, VAIT and CEO, Carewel Systems said, “We focused on HP and Luminous UPS and offered buyback schemes. We announced a special price for bookings done at the expo and generated lot of inquiries.”

Arumugam, Secretary, VAIT and CEO, Intech Computers had four stalls for Intel, Numeric, Amkette and Microstar. Besides creating brand awareness on a large scale, which was the company's key objective for participating in the event, Intech generated lot of prospective inquiries. Many partners DQ Week contacted were elated because of the potential inquiries. Praveen extended his thanks to all the companies and the sponsors of the event.
