Vembu Technologies unveiled 'Vembu Home,' a backup solution for consumers.
According to the company, it is the only free consumer backup solution for free
local backups and optional Amazon Cloud backups.
Vembu Home, based on its StoreGrid technology, offers unified backups
solution that allows consumers to take backup either on local media, or on the
Amazon cloud, or on both. The product features iPhone inspired user interface.
The new solution provides users with two options-free backup on local media,
while Optional Amazon Cloud backup is charged based on 'pay-for-use' rates.
Sekar Vembu, Founder, Vembu Technologies said, “The online backups work best
for some data, while local backup works best for others. Sometimes, a
combination of both is needed.”
“Vembu Home consists of both options, so consumers can choose which method
they're most comfortable with for protecting and storing their personal files,”
Vembu added.
It is currently in Private Beta, where consumers can back up to 500MB of data
for free to Vembu/Amazon cloud servers.
Using Vembu Home, the Amazon cloud can be used to store files, like an online
drive or a web-based archive, and can also be used for sharing large files that
can't be emailed.
Vembu's StoreGrid has been around for over four years and runs on over
1,00,000 computers across the world. StoreGrid is also used for on-premises
backups of workstations and servers at various companies and universities.
