Offering solutions to customers 24x7: PC Guru
Wednesday, February 24, 2010

PC Guru, a venture of SMR Solutions is promoted by a group of professionals who have spent a good part of their professional life with various Indian and multinational corporations.

PC Guru started its service after carefully studying the gaps in terms of service delivery which a computer user faces. Besides, the company resolves issues faced by users, and also assists users in system usage and system optimization. Service has always been the core focus area for the company which come into existence long back in 1996-97.

PC Guru is the first service of its kind in India which offers service to customers from 6 am in the morning to 12 am midnight everyday. This means that the customer is able to avail the services any day and at any time of the day. The greatest strength of the organization is that, over the years, they are successfully delivering the commitments made to the customers. Punit K Garghya, Director-Operations, PC Guru said, “Here we assist our customers for all sorts of software and hardware related problems by providing tele-support, chat support, e-mail support and remote log-in support. As a result of this, a customer can avail our services from anywhere in the country by just calling on our toll-free technical helpline number or by logging on to our services through the Web from anywhere and everywhere.” On-site support is also provided for issues related to hardware. Presently this service is being offered in NCR regions, but very soon it will be available in the other cities as well.

The breed of service and maintenance personnel in the company are skilled and semi-skilled technicians. “At PC Guru we have always ensured that persons who offer services are technically qualified, experienced and trained professionals,” noted Garghya.

Security tops the importance list for PC Guru, all engineers deployed for on-site maintenance assignments are always in PC Guru uniform and carry an identity card. “We use RIM technology, which, till now was being used to maintain servers and IT set-ups of larger organizations. This service is also prevalent in western countries for supporting individual users. Since most of the software problems can be resolved over phone or through remote access it saves time, effort and also helps to reduce green house gases by avoiding unnecessary travel of an engineer,” elucidated Garghya.

SMR has partnered with OEMs including McAfee, Symantec, Microsoft, Toshiba, Zylog etc. Broadband connectivity, being an important part of the company's service, PC Guru has therefore partnered with Tata Teleservices and is promoting broadband usage through Tata Photon+ and Zipbook which has been recently introduced in the Indian market. Customers are first explained the USP of the packages available, and depending on their requirement are offered various plans. “We provide customers with subscription packages both for individuals and organizations. The basic subscription starts from Rs 1,299 for telephonic and Web support. Other than this, on-site visit charges are extra. Customers have an option to upgrade the services by using add-on packages which are available keeping in mind requirements of different clients,” pointed out Garghya. As online transaction is not that popular in India, subscription can also be done through scratch cards which are available at various outlets in NCR. “We have also partnered with Spencer's Retails and the scratch cards would very soon be available through their music world outlets in northern India,” said Garghya.

Presently PC Guru operates in Delhi, Dehradun, Meerut and Ranchi. However, PC Guru tele-support through toll-free number and Web support services are available all over India. “We intend to add new services periodically which would include an online e-commerce portal where our subscribers will be able to get special bargain offers on IT products. Besides we plan to have a national presence in terms of on-site support by Dec 2010,” concluded Garghya.
