Digital Infotech is Chirag PC disti
Monday, March 27, 2006

Siliguri-based Digital Infotech has been appointed as the exclusive distributor for Chirag branded computers for North Bengal and Sikkim. “It been about three months now the brand has been launched here and we are currently concentrating on brand building and generating awareness among the end users,” said Rajesh Lahiri, Director, Digital Infotech.

As part of their brand building campaign in the region, Chirag participated in the recently held computer trade fair at Siliguri as main sponsors. “We had set up a stall promoted by Chirag in the exhibition. Being the largest fair in this region, it provided a nice platform for us to showcase our products and a good mileage for brand building,” he said. “We received satisfying response from the visitors at the fair and our purpose of branding is more or less solved. People are aware of the brand and we have received lots of enquiries. I am expecting good business in the coming months,” he informed.

Lahiri is very hopeful of the new product range. “We are now highly focused with this brand. I hope Chirag PCs will do good business since it has an advantage of local origin. The product quality is also good combined with reasonable pricing,” he commented. For the first three months the target was to create brand awareness. Total units sold during this period are over hundred and fifty. “From April onwards our target is to sell at lest 100 units per month,” he said. Digital Infotech is presently appointing dealers across the region. “Other than Siliguri, we are also appointing at present one dealer for each prominent places in this area, like Darjeeling, Kalimpong, Jalpaiguri, Kooch Behar, Gangtok, Malda, etc.” he informed.

Started off with BPL and IBM PCs four years back, Digital Infotech has come a long way. “From the beginning I have been in this field. In 2002 I left my job to do my own business and formed the company,” informed Lahiri. At present Digital Infotech is selling Creative and Odyssey branded products for this region along with IBM.

The company is also planning to open two exclusive retail showrooms in Raigunj and Kooch Behar by May. The market surrounding these two towns is growing in a big way. “It is estimated to be about 200 PC per month including home, government and corporate sector. Therefore, I am expecting a good business from my showroom to be opened there,” he concluded.
