Rudra Technologies to get aggressive
Friday, October 19, 2007

Kolkata, Oct 11

Singapore-based Rudra Techno-logies is geared up to promote Rudra, its self-developed anti-virus solution in the Indian market. Formed in 2006 by NS Baskar, the company was established to provide life long anti-virus solutions and hence launched Rudra.

Apart from Singapore and India, Rudra Technologies have its presence in Sri Lanka, US and the Middle East. In India, Rudra is present through its branch in Chennai. As per a Rudra Technologies statement, Rudra is the world's first anti-virus product that is able to effectively detect attacks by an unknown computer virus or any malicious code. Earlier in February, Rudra was launched in Bangalore through its South India partner-PNB Technology, and recently it was launched in Kolkata through its eastern India partner-Technology Center for Logical Approach Pvt Ltd (TCLAPL).

Tied up with Lenovo to market Rudra, its anti-virus solution, with Lenovo's laptop range

Pratik Ghosal, Director, TCLAPL said, “We had launched the product in East in April. During the last five months, we have worked to generate awareness for Rudra among our clients. Rudra is technically very different from other anti-virus packages. Therefore it needs proper demonstration and explanation to the clients to make them understand and accept the product.”

The major technical difference that Rudra has with other anti-virus applications is that it requires no updates since it does not work on the basis of virus signature. According to Yashvardhan Poddar, Project Head, TCLAPL, “The modus operandi of this product is that it has got processed filters and it maintains snapshot of the system's specs and constantly monitors for any type of unauthorized intrusions. As soon as the filters detects any intrusion trying to do any malicious activity in the system, it immediately identifies the source and blocks that program, and based on the severity of the threat either quarantines or deletes the operation.” Rudra is a one-time installation product where the customer has to pay only once. “Since no update is required, the product also doesn't require any renewal,” said Poddar. The end-user cost of Rudra is Rs 1,800.

Rudra has also tied up with Lenovo recently to bundle the product with the laptop range of Lenovo. “Through our extensive client interactions, we have been able to generate interest of the clients and we have also started doing some installations. We are quite positive that within next six months, Rudra will have a good market response and awareness,” concluded Ghosal.
