Sigma Systems, an Agartala-based company is all set to inaugurate its first
retail showroom in the town. As part of its expansion drive, the company is
diversifying into full-time retailing as well as expanding its distribution
business too. “We had been primarily into distribution business till now, with
some concentration into retail. But having measured the growing potential of
retail business in Agartala, we have decided to increase our focus towards
retailing,” explained Saikat Saha, Director, Sigma Systems.
The company is coming with a 200sq ft retail store by next month. It will
focus mainly into multi-branded desktops, laptops and laptop accessories. “The
overall PC market in Tripura is about 400 desktops and 150 laptops per month.
The demand for laptops has been rising over thelast one year, which is a good
sign,” informed Saha. “As the market here is maturing, the retail buying and
laptop consumption is growing. The main user segment is the students, and now
even the home users are shifting towards laptop for its comfort and
portability,” he added. Sigma is designing its showroom to have the facility for
live demos of the products with trained manpower. “The idea is to provide the
buyers with complete and accurate information on laptops and desktops usability,
and to enable them to compare between different brands before making a
purchase,” he said.
The company is expanding its product portfolio as well as increasing its
reach within Tripura. Last December, the company had partnered with Lenovo to
distribute its range of products in the state. Prior to that, it had also
entered in an exclusive tie-up with Simtronics to distribute its range of
motherboards and RAMs in Tripura. “We want to explore all the possible ways to
tap the growing potential of IT in Tripura and are also looking forward to add
more products to distribute along with increasing our channels network across
Tripura,” concluded Saha.
