Kolkata-based Lalani Infotech is all set to expand its operation beyond the
eastern region. Thought the decision of broadening its geographical presence
across the country has come quite late, KL Lalani, Chairman, Lalani Group of
Companies is not worried. According to him, this is the right moment for his
company to take the leap.
Lalani already has its branch in Mumbai and will be opening more branches
across other parts of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh soon. Apart from
its distributing division, the company is also launching its home brand-Kanry in
these places. Kanry was launched in East six months ago and as per Lalani, the
market response has been satisfactory, “We had been selling the products through
our channel network and gradually, it has picked up pace and has gained a good
market demand. We have not tried to make big noise about the brand, rather
preferred to go slow and gain market confidence through our quality, pricing and
support; and we have succeeded in our attempt. Now that the brand is
established, Lalani is confident to take a step further and launch Kanry in a
broader way. To start with, Kanry will be launched in the West by next month and
then in North in the next quarter,” said Lalani.
The company will also be adding new products in the Kanry portfolio by next
month. Presently, there are about 18 models including ranges from IT and office
automation products. With the new launches, total number of products under the
brand will be of over 30, which will includes different models of PC components
like keyboards, mouse, flexible keyboards, keyboard covers and office automation
products like paper shredders, note counting machines, fake note detectors,
binders, etc. “We are also constantly upgrading our product features and looks
as per current trend and demand so that our customers get the latest offerings.
Kanry is also the first Indian IT component brand to launch fully transparent
cabinets. These cases in particular have become popular with the home users as
well as the training institutes, especially those who offer hardware and
networking trainings. The see-through cabinets allow the users to have a feel of
the CPU and also the look gives a style statement,” he added.
Kanry will also launch portable short range multimedia projectors for home
video and home theatre use. “This segment is growing at a rapid pace but most of
the brands available in the market are costly. To cater to this gap, we are
coming with a range of projectors that will cost around Rs 30,000. We believe,
this will be a good value for money product for the users,” stated Lalani. The
company has also added new products in its distribution business. Of late, it
has signed up with AOC monitors, Samsung MFDs, and Canon MFDs. “This time
around, we have grown by about 30 percent and for the current FY, we are looking
for atleast 60 percent growth,” he informed. Lalani is also in the process of
applying ERP to manage its expansion plans efficiently.
