Network storage solutions vendor Network Appliance that
inaugurated its new Bangalore 180,000 sq ft facility recently, is on a hiring
spree. The company plans to ramp up its current base of 250 employees in India
to 750 in a couple of years. Dave Hitz, co-founder and executive VP, Network
Appliance said that the company has the option to grow further to 1200. NetApp
plans to spend $150 million on capital equipment and expansion over the next two
years.
Shekar Nair, President, NetApp India, said that the company
would move beyond its current activities including R&D and engineering into
new areas such as global corporate IT services, product partnering engineering
and documentation.
The Bangalore team is part of the 1200-strong global NetApp
engineering team. “While we grow our headcount at around 30 percent at various
locations, the growth rate in India is the fastest,” said Hitz. He added that
the growth in India has not happened at the expense of jobs at other
locations. “We have also been able to increase hiring at our locations on the
East and West Coasts of the US.”
The company's entire Netcache product line was developed
out of Bangalore. Nair said that the team had also developed solutions in
storage management, Virtual Tape Library, data protection and enterprise data
management.
