The solution proved helpful in bringing the
UPPCL's aggregated technical and commercial losses down by 12 percent
KLG Systel
recently announced the successful
deployment of a Rs 21 crore technology solution for managing the transmission
and distribution of power in Uttar Pradesh. The project has been underway
for over two years and covers over nine lakh users across Uttar Pradesh in
Lucknow, Bareilly, Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad.
Sharing details on the
deployment, Kumud Goel, MD, KLG Systel said, “The KLG-UPPCL partnership has
been hugely successful with our innovative solution helping the state lower its
Aggregated Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses by 12 percent and
improving UPPCL's top-line by bringing 19 percent extra consumers under
billing in the last two years. This would eventually result in saving over 50
MW's of power in the coming year.”
Speaking about UPPCL he
added, “UPPCL has a keen focus on high productivity, which is reflected in its
decision to take timely actions based on anticipation of the future on customer
issues.”
The deployment was carried
out in three phases. In the first phase, KLG Systel's GIS mapping and
electronic consumer indexing across the state has created an online database
ensuring timely redressal of consumer complaints and billing. In addition,
utility records on consumers were updated with their addresses, names, sanction
load and meter details.
In the second phase, billing
efficiency was improved through meter reading, bill generation through handheld
computers and payment through cheque at the customer premises. This service
helped in incremental revenue for the utility to the tune of around Rs 65 crore
per annum.
In the third phase, KLG
Systel is carrying out energy audits at all levels from the transformer and
substation. This shall help in detecting and accounting for AT&C losses in
real time.
